Wilderness First Aid Training Weekend   in Michigan's Upper Peninsula

In early February 2026, Mike and Shaun seized the opportunity to travel to the “great white north” near Munising, MI, where they participated in Wilderness First Aid Training organized by the Alger County Conservation District. This trip provided them with the chance to experience the breath-taking beauty of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula while acquiring essential knowledge on managing prevalent wilderness injuries, including broken bones, fractures, open wounds, and the process of readying patients for evacuation by emergency medical services. The comprehensive two-day training comprised various practical exercises and concluded with a final assessment, after which participants were awarded a certification valid for two years. With plans to spend significant time outdoors during the upcoming Spring and Summer months, Mike and Shaun recognize the importance of being equipped to handle outdoor emergencies, a vital skill that has the potential to save lives. A heartfelt thank you is extended to the Alger County Conservation District and Solo Schools, a leader in Wilderness Medicine, for facilitating this program.
